Thanksgiving kicked off early this year! On Saturday we invited a few of our closest friends over to celebrate the Season of Thanks early. Mike and I found a 30 pound turkey (no joke) on sale for $10. If you know anything about California, you know that you can't find a 5 pound turkey for that cheap. It was awesome! Hence, we celebrated Thanksgiving with pure tradition - turkey, potatoes, rolls, and pumpkin pie. Since our turkey was so big, let's just say that we will be eating it all week as we role into the real Thanksgiving. By the way, here is a trivia question for you. Do you know which U.S. President declared Thanksgiving a National Holiday? I hope you didn't guess George Washington because he only declared it a day celebration one year. President Lincoln actually declared Thanksgiving a National Holiday. President Roosevelt re-declared Thanksgiving a National Holiday years later as part of an economic stimulus package that encourage Americans to start their holiday shopping early!
